Juan Manuel Marquez Would Retire rather Than Facing Manny Pacquiao Again

manny pacquiao and juan manuel marquez fightBoxing fans who want to see Filipino boxing superstar Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao fight nemesis Mexican boxing superstar Juan Manuel Marquez for the fifth time can kiss their dream goodbye for good.

Marquez has allegedly told his trainer and manager Ignacio “Nacio” Beristain that he prefers a rematch with undefeated American boxing star Timothy Bradley than face Pacquiao again.

Beristain said the 40-year-old Marquez also said he would rather retire from boxing if he will not get a rematch with Bradley.

He said the former four-time division boxing champion is salivating for a rematch with Bradley since he felt he was robbed of victory in his recent match with the WBO welterweight champion.

The widely popular Mexican boxing trainer said his ward wants to win a fifth world title and he could only achieve it if he fights Bradley.

The boxing trainer and manager said Marquez is very eager to win a fifth world title to solidify his status as one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all-time.

A number of boxing fans and experts are hoping for a fifth bout between Marquez and Pacquiao since they believe the Filipino boxing superstar will beat the Mexican if they will fight again.

The fans and experts said Pacquiao was winning his fourth bout with Marquez until he got careless and end up getting knocked out in the sixth round of their fight on December 8,2012.

While Marquez is not anymore keen about facing Pacquiao for the fifth time, the latter is very open to such an idea.

Pacquiao believes if he will be given a chance to fight Marquez again, he would be able to avenge his humiliating loss to the latter.

After that stunning knockout loss, a number of boxing experts has counted him out, saying his days as a superstar in professional boxing was over.

But Pacquiao proved them wrong after defeating former Mexican-American boxing champion Brandon Rios last November 23 in Macau, China. Pacquiao used his superior speed and power to defeat Rios via a unanimous decision.

With his win, Pacquiao proved he remains one of the certified boxing superstars today.

After his comeback win over Rios, Pacquiao is set to climb back to the boxing ring on April 12 next year to face either Bradley, Marquez or WBO junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov.

The experts said any of the three can give Pacquiao a run for his money.[source]
