Actor categorically denies rumored video
MANILA -- Rayver Cruz and Cristine Reyes are being tagged in a supposed "sex scandal" in a text blast that has reached friends and family of the former couple.
Addressing the circulating text message for the first time, Cruz said he feels he and Reyes are being used to spread a computer virus, noting the link attached in the message.
The text says: "Scandal ni Rayver at Christine nasa (link to website) haha it's so hot!"
Speaking at the sidelines of the Cosmo Bachelor Bash held Tuesday night, the 24-year-old actor said he was among the recipients of the text blast.
"Pero, ano ba kayo, syempre kung meron 'yon malamang nasa Facebook na 'yon o sa kung anuman. And saka virus 'yun eh, may link kasi. Pag kinlick mo baka ma-virus lang 'yung phone mo o ano," he said.
"Hayaan mo pag meron, papapanood ko sa'yo kaagad!" he quipped.
Asked if he can categorically deny the existence of a sex video showing him and Reyes, Cruz said, "Wala talaga. Syempre, ano, huwag naman gano'n."
Cruz and Reyes broke up in late 2012, but have maintained a close relationship as friends. They also co-star in the primetime series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin."
The actor said he has already spoken with Reyes about the rumored "sex scandal" during one of their tapings, adding they choose to laugh it off as there is no truth to it.
"Oo [napag-usapan namin], tinatawanan lang namin. Siguro 'yung mga tao naman diyan na naninira talaga 'diba o kung anuman... Hindi lang namin pinansin, pinagtatawanan lang namin sa taping, kasi pati siya nakatanggap, ako nakatanggap, buong family ko nakatanggap.
"Ang dami, sobra, ang daming nakatanggap. Parang, 'Huh? Ano 'yan? What scandal, ano 'yon?'" he said.
'Love life' after Cristine
As to whether there is truth that actor Derek Ramsay, Reyes' current boyfriend, was supposedly upset by the text blast, Cruz appealed not to stir any issue when there isn't any to begin with.
On the subject of his own "love life" after Reyes, Cruz said he wouldn't hide being in a new relationship.
"Kilala niyo ako, pag meron talaga akong liniligawan na gusto ko talaga, at pag meron naman akong girlfriend, hindi ko naman itatago eh," he said.
Asked if he feels he is ready to "fall in love again," Cruz was quick to respond: "Oo naman, ready na ready na. Hindi ko hinahanap 'yon eh. Darating 'yan. Mas masaya pag biglang darating sa buhay mo."
